Creative Residences 2024-2025

The Objet Témoin Foundation launches its second season of artist residencies for 2024-2025, marked by a resolutely international outlook and a diversity of artistic practices. With a program designed to encourage a mix of media, the foundation invites artists from Europe and beyond to explore the richness of dialogue between disciplines. Whether in the visual, digital, performance or new media arts, each resident is encouraged to push back the traditional boundaries of his or her art.

At the heart of this season is a strong commitment to cultural mediation. Artists in residence are invited not only to create, but also to share and pass on their know-how. Through workshops, public meetings and exhibitions, they play an active role in enriching the local and international scene. This approach fosters a living transmission of cultures and an intergenerational exchange around contemporary practices.

The foundation thus emphasizes the importance of exchange and dialogue, both between cultures and between artistic disciplines, offering a creative space that is both a research laboratory and a place for sharing accessible to all.

Fanny FROMENT

  • backstory

Schoolteacher by day, Fanny had no formal training in art and grew up constantly traveling, following her parents through Africa and surrounded by artists.

  • .

She says Collage came to her naturally when she needed it most.
It acted as therapy and still allows her to explore the depths of her soul.

  • .

It's a very personal meditation on themes that touch her: nature, femininity, eroticism, tribal and primitive arts, or the world of the Pre-Raphaelites.

  • .

She loves the infinite creativity of collage, which allows for "absolutely anything". The chance encounter of images that might never have met.

  • .

It's a real renaissance to be able to build something new from existing materials.

Artist : Eddo

EDDO

  • backstory

Born in Guadeloupe to a sibling group of eight, Eddo is a singular Creole painter, as much for his art as for his commitment.

  • .

A free spirit, painter, watercolourist and illustrator, he currently lives and works in Aurillac, France, with his muse Béatrice, whom he met when he was a lodge keeper in the remote heights of Reunion Island. Other oceans, other volcanoes.

  • .

Eddo doesn't paint ‘about’ the history of the Creoles and the Maroons, he literally embodies the spirit of running away and the instinct for freedom.

  • .

He has no bank account, no telephone, and has even lived without a fixed address at times, driven by inspiration and spontaneity.

  • .

For Eddo, ‘Running away is not enough’, you need a project, to free yourself from the chains, to live truly and fully, in harmony but also ready to defend yourself against the ‘chestnut hunters’, against the militias that chain dissidents and poets.

  • No Social Networks

Cimarron isn't just yesterday, it's here and now, tomorrow and always. The only home is together, against everything that shackles us.

Gilles Werbrouck

  • backstory

Gilles Werbrouck launched his studio in Brussels in 2017 after completing a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design at the Haute Ecole Francisco Ferrer and specializing in knitted textiles through two Master's degrees at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles (BE) and at Nottingham Trent University (GB).

  • .

After working for 5 years in the fashion industry, including in Come (IT), Shanghai (CN) and Antwerp (BE), he decided to launch his own studio, focusing on knitwear, but translatinghis knowledge of knitwear to the world of design and interiors.

  • .

This approach stems from the observation that knitwear is under-represented and under-exploited in the versatility in terms of textures, yarns, colors, elasticity and finishing techniques.

  • .

In 2020, Werbrouck embarks on the design of a lamp in collaboration with the artist artist Hugues Loinard. The lamp is made by casting white jesmonite onto black black magnetic tape hook. Two elements and materials then welded together, fused into a single piece: the black mesh lampshade and a jesmonite cylinder simplified to the extreme.

  • .

There are 22 copies of the lamp, each representing a film, developed using the same same technique, but still unique.
They will present this limited series at the Salone Satellite (Salone del Mobile) in Milan in 2022, where they won 2nd prize.

  • .

Studio Gilles Werbrouck is a design studio for handmade knitted textile objects. innovative way of incorporating knitwear into interiors - through wall pieces wall pieces, lamps and other experiments.

  • .

From the outset, Werbrouck has made it a point of honor to use only fashion yarns after each season, or unconventional materials such as magnetic tape (VHS). In recent years, the latter has become an important in the development of new pieces.

  • .

The design, production and finishing of each unique piece is carried out by Werbrouck in its studio.

Juliette Willows

  • backstory

In my artworks, I often explore the relationship between words and images, using typography and text to reinforce the themes I am trying to convey. My pieces often incorporate text as a visual element, playing with its form, size, and placement to create a visual harmony that complements the underlying message.

  • .

I believe that the combination of words and images can be a powerful tool for communication, and I strive to use this tool to evoke emotion, spark reflection, and inspire action in my viewers.

  • .

Many artists in which I inspire from such as Christopher Wool, Jenny Holzer, Basquiat, and Adam Pendleton, use language as a medium to explore the complexities of overlapping and intersectional identities.

  • .

The goal of my art is to examine the impact of words in our world and everyday lives, and to create a space for reflection and communication between not only myself and my work but between the audience and those whom can relate within our society today.
